Andrew Bennett

Litigation Injury Attorney

Andrew Bennett is a trial attorney with a proven record of obtaining successful results for his clients in various types of civil litigation. A member of both the Florida and New York Bar, Andrew has significant experience aggressively representing plaintiffs in cases involving automobile collisions, catastrophic injury, wrongful death, motorcycle and trucking crashes, elevator defects, Engle progeny tobacco litigation, products liability, medical malpractice, and nursing home abuse. Andrew’s list of victories includes many seven- and eight-figure verdicts and settlements. Regardless of the type of case, whether large or small, Andrew passionately fights for his clients to achieve the best result possible.

Andrew started his legal career at Abrahamson & Uiterwyk where he worked closely with the late Hendrik Uiterwyk. As an integral member of Uiterwyk’s trial team, he tried personal injury and wrongful death cases, developing and expanding the firm’s motion practice while guiding cases through trial. During this time Andrew was involved in the prosecution of several high-profile civil cases including: Thorne v. State Farm et al. (2014); Barbose v. Philip Morris USA Inc., et al. (2015); Johnson v. High Reach II et al. (2016); McCabe v. RJ Reynolds Tobacco Co. (2016); Stalley as Guardian of the Property of Hintz v. Allstate Ins. Co. et al. (2017); and Wolfe v. Schindler Elevator Corp. and Hillsborough County Aviation Authority (2018).

In 2021, Andrew joined a small plaintiffs’ medical malpractice boutique to focus his law practice on holding doctors, hospitals, and other medical providers responsible for damages caused to patients due to their negligence. Andrew handled pre-trial depositions, hearings, mediations, and civil jury trials while demonstrating an unwavering commitment to his clients’ cases. Notably, Andrew served as one of the trial attorneys in Crohan v. University Community Hospital, which resulted in a $68 million dollar verdict. Crohan was listed as a top-ten medical malpractice verdict in the United States for 2022, and was also recognized as the largest jury award that year for a case involving erroneous medical treatment.

In 2025, after several years of working exclusively on complex medical malpractice actions, Andrew returned to Abrahamson & Uiterwyk to work on a greater variety of civil litigation involving personal injury and wrongful death.

Andrew’s interest in law began at an early age. He was born in Uniondale, New York, and followed in his father’s footsteps by pursuing his undergraduate studies at Hofstra University, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts, magna cum laude, in Political Science with a minor in Economics. During his time at Hofstra, Andrew served as President of the Professional Organization in Speech Education (P.O.I.S.E.), was selected for membership in Phi Sigma Alpha (the National Political Science Honor Society), participated in a workshop at the United Nations, and was the recipient of the Netherland-America Foundation Scholarship, among several academic honors.

Andrew then went on to earn his Juris Doctor, cum laude, from Stetson University College of Law in Gulfport, Florida. While in law school Andrew served as a Judicial Intern to the Hon. Leonard Wexler of the Eastern District of New York (2011) and was one of two law students selected to serve as a Legal Intern for the majority staff of the United States House of Representative’s Committee on Homeland Security (2012). Throughout law school Andrew spent significant time studying the intersection between international relations and international law and assisted in teaching an upper-level law school course as a Research Assistant and Teaching Assistant for Professor Luz Nagle (2012-2013). Andrew was also the President of the Equal Justice Works (Public Interest Law Society), a Judge Raphael Steinhardt Public Interest Scholarship recipient, and a William F. Blews Pro Bono Service Award recipient, among other honors.

Andrew has been selected for inclusion in the Florida Super Lawyers – Rising Stars listing and named a Lifetime Member of the Multi-Million Dollar Advocates Forum. Andrew is a member of the Florida Justice Association, the American Association for Justice, and the Tampa Bay Trial Lawyers Association. Andrew also previously served as a member of the Florida Bar’s Constitutional Judiciary Committee, which works to strengthen the public’s understanding of the role of the judicial branch of government, the Constitution, the rule of law, and the role of judges and juries in the administration of justice.

Andrew’s impressive legal career and dedication to his clients make him an asset to any legal team. His tireless commitment to excellence, attention to detail, and compassionate approach set him apart in his field.
