ANTHONY WILSON

Anthony D. Wilson is committed to helping those who are not able to help themselves.

"I believe it is my job to bring them hope; serving others is what guides my life and my practice.”

This philosophy was evident early in Wilson’s life while he attended Clearwater Christian College in Clearwater, Florida, where he earned his B.S. in business administration in May 2004. For two years he was director of a community outreach program called Joy Club, visiting two city projects weekly to mentor, teach, and encourage underprivileged children. On campus he gave freely of his time in leadership roles, serving as vice president of Sigma Kappa Delta in 2003 and senior class vice president in 2004. As an alumnus, he still offers his services to the Joy Club. Today he is actively involved in the New Testament Baptist Church in Largo, Florida, where he teaches the College and Career Sunday school class.

During his senior year at Clearwater Christian College, he took a part-time job as a law clerk with Abrahamson and Uiterwyk (AUB). He soon realized that becoming an attorney would definitely fulfill his desire to serve others.

While studying at Stetson University College of Law in Gulfport, Florida, Wilson was a member of the Law Trial Team that won the Florida Bar Chester Bedell Memorial Mock Trial Competition in January 2007. He also won the Victor O. Wehle Award for excellence in trial advocacy, and he was elected to Who’s Who Among Students in American Colleges and Universities which recognizes seniors who demonstrate qualities of strong character, scholarship, school and community service, leadership in extracurricular activities, and potential for future achievement.

In May 2007 Wilson graduated from Stetson University College of Law in Gulfport, Florida, earning his Juris Doctor degree. After passing his exam for the Florida Bar, he was employed by the Florida State Attorney Office. During his five months there, he gained practical experience as he successfully worked on eight trials. Here he saw the hopelessness of victims who are damaged by people who are negligent or commit crimes. His passion to help these people was revived. “As an attorney, I can really help people who are unable to help themselves,” Wilson declares. “Regardless of their education or station in life; most people do not have the training necessary to handle legal issues without an attorney.”

In February 2008, Wilson joined the AUB team full time.

Anthony DeWayne Wilson was born in Georgia (just outside of Atlanta). His father Jeffery was in the U.S. Air Force for 22 years. He also served in the Middle East during the First Gulf War. His mother Susan kept a full-time job in order to provide a private, Christian education for Anthony and his two brothers. She also worked to earn her bachelor's degree and eventually her master's degree. Today she is a computer programmer at Peterson Air Force Base in Colorado Springs.

Currently Wilson resides in Clearwater with his wife Jennifer and their new son Elijah. In his leisure time, Wilson enjoys fishing and golfing.
